Reproduction

Fredonia Veterinary Clinic welcomes breeding clients, whether this is your first time considering breeding or your hundredth. We’re happy to be a resource for your reproductive questions and challenges. Before breeding, a mare should receive a Wellness Exam and be current on all preventative care and vaccinations. An assessment of breeding soundness should also be conducted, which involves rectal palpation and ultrasound to determine the health of your mare’s reproductive organs, as well as where she is in her cycle. If your mare has had trouble getting pregnant in the past, a uterine cytology, culture, or biopsy may be recommended to diagnose any chronic problems.
